Accusations of sexism and ageism at the BBC continue to rumble on, with former Countryfile presenter Miriam O’Reilly seeking compensation from the corporation.  O’Reilly, 52, claims to be one of four Countryfile female presenters who were dropped from the program due to their age.  She is seeking compensation for loss of earnings and for injury to feeling.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “Any suggestion that the presenters of Countryfile were replaced on the grounds of age is absolute nonsense.

“Our programmes always strive to reflect a wide range of diversity as possible to ensure we represent the BBC’s audience.”

We’ll keep you posted on how the employment tribuneral progresses…
