Don’t you just hate it when you’re having a great phone conversation but have to cut it short when you realise your battery charge is low?

If Nokia have their way, this scenario may soon become a thing of the past.  They’ve just filed a US patent application for the first self-charging phone.

It works by using kinetic energy created when a phone is moved around – for example, if you were to put it in your pocket and then walk to the other side of the room.  That energy would then charge its battery, keeping it constantly topped up.

The technology could also be applied to things like music players, medical equipment, or games consoles.

It sound amazing in principle, but sadly there’s no clue as to when this technology will hit the market.  BWT will let you know if we hear anything.
