Believe it or not, occasionally BWT has needs.  FILTHY needs (and we’re not talking about getting slack with the washing up for a few days.)

But despite 99.99999999% of the entire internet being taken up by porn, there is a surprising lack of erotic choice available to the female shopper.

We think there should be more 50’s style pin-ups to look at, with girls wearing “proper”, “decent” underwear and stockings.

We know all girls want to look at this stuff, because every Burlesque event we’ve attended (which is A HELLAVALOT) is frequented by 90% women.  The 10% have been taken there by their girlfriends.

Thankfully, a recent shopping trip for a new girdle caused us to stumble across this – Peek! Magazine.

As the website itself says, Peek was:

“… Inspired by gentlemen’s magazines from the 1950’s, a period where simply a glimpse of a ladies under-garment was enough to send many into convulsions.

“However it  is not designed to appeal to only aficionados of that era… Neither do we believe that Peek! should only be read by gentlemen, it is aimed at ladies and gentlemen alike and for this reason we bring you lots of articles about how the modern lady about town can dress in satorial elegance.”

Sounds good to us!  BWT can’t wait for the next issue.

New Get Cutie Website – Now Live February 20, 2010

Yippie!  Get Cutie, one of our favourite clothing retailers, has completely revamped and redesigned its website.

The Get Cutie shop, based in Brighton, is well worth the trip if you are in the area.  But if you aren’t, navigating their website can be a pain in the neck – until now.

Gone are the teeny tiny swatches that gave you an unclear picture of what their (beautiful) patterns really looked like.  It’s now super clear and easy to see exactly what you’re getting.  Plus, they’ve added a whole bunch of new fabrics – we’re rather taken with the “Head in the Clouds” print (below.)

And if you have a little person if your life (a child – not Danny DeVito), you can soon deck them out in Get Cutie gear too!  MATCHING RED RIDING HOOD SKIRTS FTW!

Not able to make it down to London for the Vivien of Holloway clothing sale?  No problem!  Because thanks to The Affordable Vintage Fair, you can get your retro fix across the UK, including Newcastle, Nottingham, Cambridge and Glasgow.

The fair, touring from 24th January to the 21st March, “offers a hand picked selection of stalls and price checks each of them to ensure shoppers are paying up to 75% less than high street prices for their vintage.”

The next destination on their tour list is Liverpool at John Moores Student Union on the 30th January.

If any of you savvy shoppers pop along, let us know what it’s like!

We at BWT love 50’s vintage, and Vivien of Holloway make the perfect replica 50’s dresses without the “vintage smell” or cigarette burn hole on the bum.

This week from Thursday to Sunday (28th – 31st January) they will be having a sale event with many things at half price, which means that you cab buy two!

The only snag is, the sale is restricted to their London store only, and not online.   Sorry folks!  But if you are in the London area or fancy an outing, you could do a lot worse than popping down to their store on Holloway Road.  To check out their stock and more information about the sale, please click here.
